Ready to see the forest in a new light? Join us for an overnight immersion into the wild. From ‘Herping’ for amphibians to tasting hand-foraged wild teas under the stars, we’re covering it all. Learn night navigation, master campfire cooking, and snap stunning wildlife photos. All in one epic 24-hour adventure.

Most people see the wilderness as a backdrop; at Biodiversity Camp, we see it as a living, breathing laboratory. This overnight immersion is designed for those who want to move beyond the trail and into the heart of the natural world. From the canopy to the forest floor, we will document, navigate, and taste the incredible variety of life that surrounds us.

What’s on the Agenda?

  • The Hunt for Scales & Feathers: Engage in Bird-watching and Field Herping as we identify avian species by day and track elusive reptiles and amphibians by night.
  • The Glow of the Undergrowth: Experience the mesmerizing world of entomology with Insect Light Traps, attracting and observing the iridescent nocturnal insects that rule the night.
  • Traditional & Digital Skills: Master the ancient art of Night Navigation using the stars and terrain, while simultaneously learning Outdoor Phone Photography to document your finds like a professional field researcher.
  • The Ethical Harvest: Gather around the campfire for Outdoor Cooking and a unique Ethical Wild Tea Tasting, where we explore the flavors of local flora through the lens of sustainable foraging and “Leave No Trace” ethics.

Guided by field experts, this hands-on experience ensures you’ll learn professional survey techniques and essential safety skills. Explore the ecosystem, build your confidence in the wild, and see the forest come alive after dark.

Why Join Biodiversity Camp?

This isn’t just a camping trip, it’s a skill-building retreat. Whether you are a photography enthusiast, a budding naturalist, or simply someone who loves the smell of a campfire, you will leave with a new perspective on the environment and the technical skills to explore it responsibly. Space is limited; grab your headlamp and let’s go.

What Gear do I need to bring?

Clothing: We suggest that you come dressed to spend a day outdoors where weather can change. The weather in the country is quite unpredictable so even if it is sunny, include rain gears in your pack.

Shelter: Tents with good waterproofing, tarps, or hammocks w/tarps will be applicable at camp. However we highly recommend you bring tents so you can also secure all your gears inside while the session is on-going.

Food & Hydration: You will need to bring your own food good for four 2 meals (Dinner & Breakfast). You will also be required to bring at least 1-2Liters of drinking water and water filtration system if you are not comfortable drinking straight from a natural spring.

Cooking/mess kit: You must bring your own mess kit (for cooking & eating). Cooking set & camping stove with enough fuel. Campfires will be allowed at camp but we suggest you bring camping stoves for convenience

Illumination & power: Flashlights/headlamps with spare batteries. Powerbanks for your phones and other gadgets

Pro-Tip: If you have a macro lens attachment for your phone, bring it! It’s a game-changer for the Insect Light Trap and Herping sessions

IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit)
