The Biodiversity walk is a 1-Day outdoor excursion where students will enjoy an adventurous day-hike activity while fully immersing themselves in nature. A slow-paced, relaxed hike on an average trail difficulty with lots of enjoyable and fun stuff to learn about the local & exotic wildlife of the Philippines. During the entire day we will be identifying different types of plants and animals that we will encounter along the trail. Learn about their characteristics, habitat and their important role to our ecosystem.

This is a kid-friendly program with lots of fun group activities. Students/participants shall be required to bring their own meals (packed lunch, trail snack, & hydration). At noontime we will stay at a designated campsite where we will be having our meals and lunch break right in the middle of the wilderness.

Prerequisite: NONE

This course is a good introduction to enjoying the outdoors. I expected an easy hike thru the mountains or along a river bank and didnt expect the challenging 10km+ route, but it was absolutely worth it. The guides constantly assess the group and have alternate easy routes if it gets too difficult for the pack. I joined this course with my wife and 10 year old son and will definitely join more activities in the future.

  2. Alpha Joy Santos –

Had our Biodiversity Walk yesterday, and it was such a great experience! The route was enjoyable but challenging enough to push us out of our comfort zones and learn to trust ourselves more.

I also learned a lot about different plants, their uses, and how they can be useful for survival. It made me appreciate nature more and realize how valuable these skills are, especially for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

Big thanks to Sir Ricky for being so accommodating and sharing his knowledge with us. He made the whole experience both fun and educational!

Overall, this course is a great foundation for anyone who wants to get into hiking and outdoor adventures. You get to learn practical skills, challenge yourself, and gain more confidence along the way. Definitely worth it, and we’re already looking forward to taking another course with SOSC! Highly recommended!

If you want to get into outdoor activities this course is a great start to understanding plants and organism in our local areas. I’ll definitely enroll to other courses they offer.

The Sapangdaku–Kalunasan Biodiversity Walk was such a great experience! The trail was tough, and there were definitely moments when I questioned my life choices. But the views? So worth it.

Thank you, Sir Ricky, for sharing your knowledge with us! I honestly learned a lot, and it made me realize that hiking isn’t just about reaching the summit. It’s also about knowing the stories behind the trails, appreciating the beauty around us, and being mindful of the nature we get to experience.

Definitely went home with more than just tired legs and photos. A solid 10/10 experience.

  5. Diane –

One of the best outdoor group in Cebu that lets you know the land you are walking on. If you want to try if the outdoors is for you, SOSC is the best start. They consider safety of utmost importance. They also have a deep knowledge of the different trails in Cebu, where some of the locals are people they know.
